Norwegian aquaculture and fisheries

Side stream biomass of marine origin constitutes an important value-added resource in the Norwegian but also the EU fisheries and aquaculture industry, where most of them are used in a good way. Nevertheless, there is a potential for increasing the utilization rate, especially from the whitefish sector. In Norway, more than 950,000 tons of side stream raw materials was accessible from a base of 3.57 million tons of fish and shellfish in 2018 (Table 1.1.1).
